I now live in the city I was born in, although I have lived all over this state. The rural area of the south I spent most of my childhood in had its impact on my development, but thankfully I was homeschooled from first grade on. Also, I was raised in a fundamentalist, evangelical religion. While I consider myself and Agnostic, spiritually speaking, and a Libertarian politically, I will always carry with me the biblical woes I was privy to as a child. One must really live that life to understand what I'm talking about, but you cant "shake off" that kind of upbringing no matter how hard you try or want to...and I dont shun everything about it. Just a lot of the literal stuff indoctrinated in my fucking subconscience...anyone read the book of Revelation or Jeremiah lately? There is some scary shit in there. Personally, I still like the gospels, no matter how contradictory they are...I'm chill with the "love thy neighbor" and the "golden rule" is reasonable, philosphically speaking.
Luckily, my Husband went to a Baptist church a few times a year as a child and keeps some of my anxiety about the end of the world at bay.
I know we're only 18 days into 2008, but its lookin' a lot better than 2007 already (knock on wood).
Survived the Holidays, my son's third birthday, my Husbands, and my own...now all thats left is our Anniversary. Eight years on the twenty fourth....god, I was such a baby. I'm not gonna let my son date at 20, much less get married!
